Get That Wing Right!

IMG_1923

Hieeeeee guys!!!

Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for a post on eyeliner application. So this one here is just about that. Although, I am sure that many of you are already good at it, there a few girls still struggling and wanting to master the art.

We all know that eyeliners come in pencil, cream and liquid form but choosing the right type for yourself is very important. I personally prefer cream and pencil liners. Cream/Gel eye liners give that sharp, edgy look to the eyes while the pencil eyeliners are good for a thicker appearance or to create that smudgy, smokey look.

In this post, I’m going to do a regular cat-eye/winged liner which is currently very popular among the masses.

{Using Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel liner with a small angular brush}

I’ve been using this eyeliner for many years now and honestly, it has given me no reason to complain. You may also try Inglot or Bobby Brown gel liners. They give excellent results. Also, choosing the right brush for applying the eyeliner is very essential. A small flat brush or an angular brush are two best options. For those who aren’t very comfortable using the brush can also try pen eyeliners from Lancome (Artliner) or Nyx (The Curve).

Steps:

1. Starting from the inner corner of your eye, draw a line to the end of your eye. If you’re really unsure and new to working with gel liner, I would suggest you lightly add three small dots to the eye. These dots will help you locate your start, center and finish point. Join these dots into a straight line quickly before the they dry up while making sure that the liner is tight to the lash line.

2, Thereafter, identify the point you want your wing to extend to, and then draw back down from there. Now, take some liner and apply it to the point where you want your wing to finish.

3. Gently, draw back down to your existing line. You might not get the perfect shape at once, but then we all know that practice makes one perfect so don’t get disappointed and keep trying.

4. Lastly, to give proper shape to the wing and to tidy up the eye area, make use of a cotton swab with makeup remover. It always comes to my rescue…a Must-Have!!!!

Once you get the regular cat eye/ wing right, you must experiment with other different types. There’s nothing better than a perfect winged liner. So, go ahead and try it out and do let me know how you did.

Ciao!
